There are certain patients who absolutely require back surgery. However, this comprises a very small percentage of individuals suffering from back and/or leg pain. Most surgeons have the patients health in mind and do recommend exhausting safer, noninvasive and far less expensive forms of care prior to surgery - this includes chiropractic care. But, individuals need to realize this is not always the case. A new study finds surgeons predict at least moderate improvement for almost all patients undergoing back surgery, yet nearly 40 percent of patients have little or no improvement one year after their operation.
